Nancy Royce Research Reports

Genetic Lincoln is grateful to Nancy C. Royce for generously sharing her many years of Hanks family research for the free, non-profit use of our readers. Nancy is an avocational genealogist who, as a descendant of Mark and Peter Lee, brothers of Ann Lee Hanks, the mother of Lucy Hanks Sparrow, has been doing original genealogical research on the Hanks and Lee families for over 40 years. She has been a volunteer at the Friendswood, Texas Family History Library Center for 25 years, and has given seminars and talks on genealogical research in (primarily Southern and Virginia) Census Records, Land and Property Records and Will and Probate Records. Her work has been used by Edward Steers and Paul H. Verduin.

Nancy’s informative, factual and fully foot-noted research reports are provided at the link below. Please return often as we will be adding additional reports as quickly as possible.

10/8/20 Update:  For a better visual experience, we are also providing  hyperlinks to these same reports from a simple Hanks Family Tree on the Hanks YDNA page of this website.

This section will include research reports for LEE and other ancestral and associated families of Abraham Lincoln. Descendants of Richard Lee the Immigrant do not have a YDNA match with descendants of William and Dorothy Lee of Richmond Co., VA.  For Lee YDNA details, please visit The Henry Lee Society.

New March 20, 2021 – We are grateful to Judy Kellar Fox for providing the first report for this section:  Judy Kellar Fox, CG®, “Documents and DNA Identify a Little-Known Lee Family in Virginia,” National Genealogical Society Quarterly 99 (June 2011), 85-96.  Additional LEE research reports provided by Nancy C. Royce.
